As a millennial, my most recent interaction with vinyl dates back to early childhood. I have fond memories of playing Alvin and the Chipmunk’s version of “Leader of the Pack” on a 78” (is that how you call it?) The high-pitched notes rang through the cheap speakers of my bright-yellow Big Bird shaped turntable. So, in all of my glowing ignorance about the virtues of vinyl, and to mark world vinyl record day, I visited Lotus Land Music and Electronics in Kitsilano to get schooled in the ancient art of music in it’s physical form.

The interview aired on CBC Radio One’s On The Coast with host Stephen Quinn on Aug. 12. Jump to 2:19:30 to hear it.
